October 2022 First Monday
Dear Alumni and Friends,
We’ve welcomed five new members of our permanent faculty this fall, and I’m so proud to introduce them to you.
Ashley Cetnar has been named an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law after visiting with us last year. Prior to joining us in Boise, Professor Cetnar taught at Stetson University College of Law. Professor Cetnar teaches in our academic success program and bar preparation programs. In her short time at the law school, she’s already become an important member of our community.

Professor Linda Jellum joins us in Moscow from Mercer University Law School where she served as the Ellison Capers Palmer, Sr. Endowed Chair in Tax Law. A prolific scholar, Professor Jellum has had her articles featured in some of the most prominent law journals in the country, including the Texas Law Review, the Ohio State Law Journal, and the UCLA Law Review. In addition to Tax Law, Professor Jellum is also teaching Civil Procedure and Administrative Law courses.

Professor Nick Smith serves as the director of the Entrepreneurship Law Clinic and Assistant Professor of Law. He most recently served as an associate general counsel of a Boise-based technology company. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law school, Professor Smith served as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit before entering private practice. His research interests include corporate social responsibility, impact investing, and the use of environmental, social, and governance factors in business decision-making.

Megan Starich has joined us as Assistant Clinical Professor of Law in Boise teaching Legal Writing and Analysis. Professor Starich is a graduate of the University of Washington Law School. After graduating, she clerked for the U.S. District Court of the District of Nevada before entering private practice where her focus was on employment law.

And last, but certainly not least, Professor Dawn Young has also joined us in Boise. Prior to her appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Law, she spent twelve years at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Professor Young teaches Academic Skills Lab I and II to our first-year students.

We are so lucky to have this group of dedicated teachers and scholars join our faculty. Please join me in welcoming them to the Vandal community!
Yours,
Johanna Kalb
Dean and Professor of Law
